To estimate your China trip cost, start with travel days, hotel nights, travelers and city changes. Price the bookings that depend on your route, then allow for daily spending. The 10-day examples below demonstrate the calculation; their allowances are hypothetical, not current quotes or national averages.

Decide what your total includes

Here, “10 days” means arriving on Day 1, leaving on Day 10 and paying for nine hotel nights. Your flights or an overnight journey may change that count. Check your arrival time against the first-day guide before booking a room.

10-day example: two people sharing one room

Assume two adults take a 10-day, nine-night trip with a limited number of city changes. Every amount in this table is an illustrative planning allowance.

The assumed room costs CNY 520 per night for the pair, equivalent to CNY 260 per person when split equally. Do not multiply that room line by two again. If each traveler needs a room, calculate nine nights × two rooms × the applicable final room price. Check occupancy and beds using the hotel guide.

If the pair prepays the CNY 4,680 room, CNY 1,200 intercity allowance and CNY 200 connectivity allowance, CNY 6,080 is already committed. The CNY 5,200 planned remainder covers food, local transport, activities and contingency; it is part of the CNY 11,280 total, not an additional cost. Confirm whether a hotel reservation is prepaid or merely secured by a card.

10-day example: one traveler

A solo traveler cannot halve a shared room charge. This separate hypothetical plan uses an assumed CNY 360 room rate for the same ten days and nine nights.

Prepaying the room, intercity travel and connectivity would commit CNY 4,060, leaving a CNY 2,850 planned remainder. Replace each allowance with a price for your route, keeping the units straight: per room or per person; per night or per day.

For one concrete activities calculation, peak base admission to the Palace Museum and Summer Palace is CNY 60 + CNY 30 = CNY 90 per adult, or CNY 180 for two. Catch costs between headline prices
